Continuing Conversation: Color Blindness

Please join us on Monday, May 4, 7 p.m., in the Story Room (3rd floor) for our Continuing Conversations on Race and White Privilege. This month we will be focusing on examining “Color Blindness: and other kinds of unconscious biases. To prepare for the discussion, please give some consideration to biases/prejudices you may have that you would like to let go of.

Other ways to prepare — peruse links to articles about:

Microaggressions

colorblindness – by Robert Jensen, who points out that white people can afford to claim they are colorblind, but people of color don’t have that luxury.

white privilege by Peggy McIntosh, by Nicholas Kristof, and by Christopher Bowers.  And by Julia Blount.

If you believe that structural racism exists and are wondering what you might be able to do to help us become a more just and equitable society, this could be a good opportunity for you!

This forum offers a safe and friendly atmosphere to talk about issues of relevance to our community and nation.
