Poor whites live in richer neighborhoods than middle-class blacks and Latinos

Writing in the Washington Post, Michael A.Fletcher reports on research showing that “Poor whites tend to live in more affluent neighborhoods than do middle-class blacks and Latinos, a situation that leaves those minorities more likely to contend with weaker schools, higher crime and greater social problems.”

  1. What does this article really say about the economic conditions and standards of living for some and not all? As human beings and Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs – our, human beings basic needs are physiological: home, food, warmth, rest, safety, and security. When comparing the poorest of whites to other ethnic groups and realizing that they live better there is a systematic program advantaging whites. How many times will it take for white people to see the hand writing on the wall?
