Randall Kennedy, professor of law at Harvard University, Dr. Julianne Malveaux, president emerita of Bennett College, and Errin Haines Whack, urban affairs reporter for the Associated Press, explore the history of Black Lives Matter and its parallels with past civil rights movements.

Michael Gerhardt, scholar-in-residence at the National Constitution Center, moderated the event at the National Constitution Center on December 5, 2016.

  1. I sat with friends in the third row from the stages and captured the important perspectives of the parallels between Black Lives Matter and the Civil Rights Movement. The underpinning message is there is work necessary. The victory is ours when “we” are equipped with the tools.
