Sources for Racially Diverse Books for Children

Looking for book gifts or summer reading for children?  Annie Farrell, kids book selector at Labyrinth Books in Princeton, has provided a link to 1000 Black Girl Books Resource Guide, created from the #1000blackgirlbooks campaign led by Marley Dias.

There are a couple of publishers that make an effort to produce children’s books with characters of color:  Lee & Low Books and Barefoot Books.

Do you have a favorite book or books for children that features diverse characters?

The ones I like for my youngest granddaughters are Helen Oxenbury’s Tickle, Tickle and All Fall Down, Bright Eyes, Brown Skin by Cheryl Hudson, and Yellow Ball and Ten, Nine, Eight by Molly Bang.
