He Called the School Board Racist. Now, He’s Joined It.

In 1999, the Decatur, Illinois school board expelled Courtney Carson and five of his fellow black classmates after a fight.  Now an activist, minister and mentor to young people going through the same challenges he faced, Rev. Carson has been elected to the school board to address continuing racial disparities.  Read

Princeton, too, needs more Board of Education members who are people of color.  Petitions are due on July 31.  Candidates must be 18 years old, resident of the district for one year, and registered to vote.  For additional information click here.
