Two African American Studies Events, December 6, 2018

On Thursday, December 6, 2018, 4:30 pm to 6:00 pm, in 010 East Pyne, Dr. Safiya Umoja Noble, in her talk “Algorithms of Oppression: How Search Engines Reinforce Racism,” challenges the idea that search engines like Google offer an equal playing field for all forms of ideas, identities, and activities. On the same day and time, 106 McCormick on the Princeton U. campus, Dr. Miriam Petty’s “talk will read Perry’s recent holiday films ‘A Madea Christmas’ and ‘Boo! A Madea Halloween,’ to consider Madea’s narrative and visual relationship to the ‘problem’ of Black nostalgia, especially for the American South.” For more information, click here.
