On Thursday, August 22 at 6:30 p.m. (Doors open 6:00 p.m., join historian and film producer Dr. Lawrence Hogan, Negro league’s last team Captain of the Kansas City Monarchs and All Star James Robinson, and poet Kevin Kane for a multifaceted presentation on the complex relationships in “Blackball” during America’s era of segregation. Included are clips from Dr. Hogan’s documentary Before You Can Say Jackie Robinson: Black Baseball in New Jersey and America and Kevin Kane’s rendition of his original poem “K.C. at the Bat,” a black version of the iconic “Casey at the Bat.”
