Art in the Age of Mass Incarcertion, May 13, 2020

 

At 6 pm on May 13, Nicole Fleetwood and Ruha Benjamin will be in conversation through Labyrinth and the Library Live-Streaming about Fleetwood’s new book, Marking Time: Art in the Age of Mass Incarceration, “a powerful document of the inner lives and creative visions of men and women rendered invisible by Americas prison system. . . .  it also exposes them to shocking levels of deprivation and abuse and subjects them to the arbitrary cruelties of the criminal justice system. Yet, as Fleetwood reveals, America’s prisons are filled with art.”
