From the Princeton University Black Leadership Coalition: “The Black community has discussed ways that we can affect change as Princeton students. We had a town hall discussion and one of the ideas was setting up a university coordinated donation effort. The Black Leadership Coalition, which consists of the Black student groups on campus, has come together to propose the below action and support from the university. Our goal is to establish a fund for students, and challenge faculty and alum to match 2:1, essentially double, the dollar amount raised by students. As of now students have donated more than $13,000.
We hope that you will support undergraduate students in our fight for racial justice and equality. Your support will be deeply appreciated and is a very necessary first step in being a part of creating the future that is better for all of us.
- We encouraged students to donate to I Am Trenton between the week of June 8th – June 14th
- We encourage faculty and administration of Princeton to double the donations of students during the week of June 15th – June 21st and donate to NAACP Legal Defense and Educational Fund
- We encourage alumni and the surrounding community of Princeton to double the donations of students during the week of June 15th – June 21st and donate to Equal Justice Initiative.“
