Reading Is Only a Step on the Path to Anti-Racism

While librarian Nicole A. Cooke did compile a website Anti-Racism Resources for All Ages in response to requests for materials to explain to white children events around George Floyd’s murder and other deaths, she explains why reading is not enough. “Just reading encourages performative gestures of outrage and solidarity, and perpetuates the actual problem of systemic oppression.”  Cooke outlines the three stages on the journey to anti-racism.  Read her complete essay by clicking here.
