10 myths about the racial wealth gap

Dion Rabouin debunks some of the popular explanations for the huge gap in wealth between black and white Americans, such as using educational achievement, home ownership, individual accomplishment, etc. with evidence that “the wealth gap is the product of centuries of inequality and racism that has grown too large to be impacted significantly by individual actions, achievements or choices.”

While recognizing this period following the murder of George Floyd as a defining moment in American history, Susan Rice, former Ambassador to the United Nations, also notes that many of the changes that have occurred are symbolic and specifies ways for systemic reform to take place.
