Bob Jenkins: In His Own Words

  Bob Jenkins: In His Own Words, a short film about the life of the Princeton resident and sculptor, who taught children for many years at the Arts Council of Princeton will be shown at the Princeton Public Library. A reception will follow.

Following the screening, there will be a Q&A where Bob will talk about his life and work and filmmaker Krysia Kolodziej will discuss the making of the film. Light refreshments will be served to celebrate Bob’s recent 92nd birthday.

Children will have the opportunity to participate in a scavenger hunt to find Bob’s “Cheetah” sculpture which lives in the library.

Born in Spring Lake, N.J., Bob Jenkins was educated in the public school system until he attended the elite school for African American youth in Bordentown, N.J., the Manual Training and Industrial School. He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War and, following his discharge in 1955, embarked on a career in New York City, where he met his wife, Sally in the early 1970s. They relocated to Princeton in 1991, where he began an additional chapter teaching clay and paper mache sculpture to children at the Arts Council of Princeton.

Retired print editor Krysia Kolodziej has lived in Princeton, where she and her husband, Peter Jaffé, raised their son, for over 45 years,
