Continuing Conversations on Race and White Privilege: My Ancestors were Enslavers in Colonial Virginia. How do I Repair the Harms of Slavery and its Legacies Today?

Allison Thomas descends from six generations of enslavers. Researching them, she witnessed the brutality and violence required to keep men and women in bondage. She also connected with descendants of people her family enslaved, some of whom shared her DNA. Allison is focused on repairing the harms of slavery and its legacies of structural inequity today by working with Black linked descendants to restore the history of their community, spending down her wealth by the end of the decade and working with Black-led groups on government reparations.

In June, Continuing Conversations (CC) will meet both in person, at the Princeton Public Library, and on Zoom.  Because of the library’s earlier closing time, CC will start an hour earlier at 6 pm and end at 7:30.  Light refreshments will be served. To register for the Zoom link, click here.
