Embossed Stories: Mexican Repujado & Visual Language
How can an object tell a story without words?
Explore repujado, a traditional Mexican metal-embossing technique, through an artistic exploration of symbols, visual language, and storytelling with Verónica Olivares-Weber, teaching artist and Mexican folk artist.
In this hands-on workshop, participants will create an original embossed metal piece inspired by a meaningful symbol, place, object, personal story, or idea. Working with line, pattern, texture, relief, and form, participants will discover how decorative elements can communicate ideas, emotions, identity, and a sense of place.
Drawing inspiration from Mexican folk-art traditions and decorative arts, the workshop invites participants to consider how cultural symbols and materials can carry stories and meaning across different experiences and communities.
No previous art or metalworking experience is necessary.
