Juneteenth at SSAAM

Celebrate Juneteenth with a full day of joy, history, and community at the Stoutsburg Sourland African American Museum. Discover the legacy of defiance and self-determination that shaped life on Sourland Mountain, where African American families pushed back against injustice and carved out freedom for themselves and their descendants.

Families can explore this powerful history through hands-on activities, live music and theater, delicious food, and guided tours of the Museum’s historically African American–owned property. Throughout the day, you’ll hear true stories of resilience, courage, and the ongoing fight to claim and protect freedom across generations.

It’s a vibrant, meaningful celebration perfect for all ages.
