MLK Day Community Gathering + Art-Making

January 20 @ 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm

Free

Join the Arts Council of Princeton as we celebrate the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr with a free art-making workshop.

Project details: We often find ourselves stuck in one emotion, lacking the space or time to reflect and change our perspective. In this workshop, artist Tamara Torres will lead you to explore color’s varying effects on emotions and together, discuss ways to express feelings through abstract art. Participants of all ages will spend ten minutes to create freely on a sheet of paper, allowing themselves to express their feelings without the constraints of perfection, rules, or judgment. Afterward, you’ll be challenged to tear up your paper and use the pieces to create a new collage that represents a different perspective, transforming it into something new. This exercise encourages conversations about changing perspectives and looking at things in a fresh way.

MLK Day Food Drive: Bring canned and/or shelf-stable pantry items to fill our accessible Food Pantry coordinated in partnership with Send Hunger Packing Princeton. Thank you for this act of service!

Art on display: View Tamara Torres’ Siegel Gallery exhibition Embracing Guidance.
