The Head That Wears the Crown Exhibit

Stoutsburg Sourland African American Museum’s powerful exhibition “The Head That Wears the Crown: Black Women’s Headwear from Slavery to Freedom” is on display at the Historic Hunterdon County Courthouse. Through artifacts and storytelling, the exhibit explores how headwear has expressed resilience, spirituality, resistance, fashion, and freedom across generations of Black women.
