Washitales presents the work of renowned visual artist Kyoko Ibe in conjunction with the LCA’s theatrical presentation of Felon: An American Washi Tale by Reginald Dwayne Betts. The set for Felon has been created by Ibe and includes kites constructed of traditional Japanese handmade paper (washi) made from the clothes of men who Betts met in prison. The exhibition includes work related to the theatrical set and other works by Ibe using handmade paper. Felon is one of a series of collaborations between director Elise Thoron and Ibe. Gallery hours: open daily, 10 AM-8 PM. On 2/23, Ibe joins in conversation with visual arts lecturer Daniel Heyman in the gallery.
