King’s challenge to the nation’s social scientists

In an address at the American Psychological Association’s Annual Convention in September 1967, explaining the role of the social sciences in the civil rights struggle, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. said “White America needs to understand that it is poisoned to its soul by racism and the understanding needs to be carefully documented and consequently more difficult to reject.”
